The garden now has a fine greenhouse and an additional eight growboxes, including an extra long one for community use.
The new growboxes have arrived just in time for Spring, and will allocated to residents who have expressed an interest, with priority being given to those who do not have their own garden. The gardening club has already started planting onions, garlic and peas in the big community box, with the aim of harvesting ingredients for Shrubland Community Growing and Cooking Project and the Food Festival on July 23rd.
The greenhouse will help the get growing project off to a good start, as well as providing excellent early growing conditions for the several varieties tomato, basil and peppers earmarked for the upcoming plant sales this spring.
